The Temperatures Of The Planets

Humans have evolved everything to Earth's settings, but now we are beginning to explore the universe we live in. For example, Mars's atmosphere hardly contains any oxygen, and that's a challenge for planes and parachutes. This article will explain the (extreme) temperatures of the planets around us.

Mercury

During the day, Mercury can get up to 430 degrees celsius. And because it has no atmosphere to retain that boiling heat, nighttime temps can drop down to minus 180 degrees celsius.

Venus

Venus does have a very toxic atmosphere, so heat-trapping gases can mean temperatures can reach up to 465 degrees celsius. Funnily enough, the longest time probes have spent in this lead-melting temperature is just over two hours.

Mars

Depending on where you are, Mars ranges in temperatures. On average, it's around -60°C although around the polls temperatures to get to -125°C. The hottest it can get on a summers day is around 20°C.

Jupiter

In Jupiter's clouds, temperatures can be -145°C, although in the centre it can be 24,000°C!

Saturn

Saturn is pretty cool, with averages of -178°C. These temperatures vary around the poles.

Uranus

Uranus has the coldest atmosphere in the Solar System, with temperatures ranging from -153°C to 218°C.

Neptune

The average temperature on Neptune is -200°C. It is located 30 times farther away from the sun than Earth is, and often rains diamonds!

As usual an interesting article. Very topical with the latest mars landing.
