How To Make A 'Blended Brick' Image On Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator really is a tricky paid app to use, and gets some professionals biting their nails as they wait for the final result after seemingly endless loading times, mainly to find their incredible patience has been lost to mistake. But, FEAR NOT! Middle is here to help you create a beautiful 'blended brick' image on Adobe Ilustrator - found by mistake.

Open Adobe Illustrator and click on 'Create New' in the left corner of your screen. When a size-changing pop-up appears, click on 'A4' (or 'Print' as it is sometimes called' and then 'Create New'.

When your document loads, click on the square symbol in the toolbar and drag across the document, making a rectangle. Click on the box next to 'fill' and choose whatever colour you like. I've used purple, because I like it.

Before we get fancy with blending, create another smaller box in the bottom-right corner of the square.

Next, click on the symbol in the toolbar with the square and two circles overlapping each other, known as the blend tool. From the top-left corner of the big box to the top-left corner of the small box, and you've made a blended brick! Make sure to experiment with blending patterns and even add text to the box, if you want.
