How To Tell A Good Website

There are so many websites out there, it sometimes just overwhelms people, but how can you tell a good website from the bad?

1: Fonts And Align

This is Why Evolution Is True (whyevolutionistrue.com), biologist Jerry Coyne's blog. Look how it is all aligned to the left, and how most of the features are on the side. Left menus are OK, but in my opinion they should have a title and follow you down the site (unlike Wikipedia!).

As well, Mr. Coyne, you should have chosen a different logo. That font is naff and is not conected to the site at all. Also, underlined letters went out of fashion years ago.

2: Layout And Features

This is a blog post in Planex News (planexnews.blogspot.com), a news and information site created with Blogger. It is important when building a website to not go overboard with the features, as too many clog up the site and make it look a bit rushed. Also, keep fresh ideas when adding objects and pages to your site, and don't just add them all in one space.

The layout needs to look good too. The author of this site in particular has used a sort of minimalist style, and has not used the same technique as Jerry Coyne.

3: Content And Fonts

This is the homepage of HiClipart (hiclipart.com), a website that you can use to download transparent background pngs. While there are some pretty good pngs on there, the homepage of the site has not got a lot of content and is almost blank. You will notice on Middle, we have some content on the homepage.

Also, you need to worry about the fonts you use for your website. Although the website builder Wix (wix.com) never uses naff fonts, other website builders might do so you need to be careful. Never use the font in the search bar or the labels underneath.

I hope these tips helped you create your website and also gave you an idia of good and bad sites out there. See you soon!
